Bill Gates, Master Prankster

February 5, 2009

Bill Gates pulled the unintentionally funniest prank I have heard of in a while.

Apparently, he released a swarm of mosquitoes at a conference, saying, “There’s no reason only poor people should be infected” to malaria. A few minutes later, he did the rhetorical “Gotcha” by letting his freaked-out audience know that none of the mosquitoes have malaria.

I hope that this the only the beginning of a wave of mad scientist like pranks Gates pulls on unsuspecting technology conferences. Here is a list of suggestions, if Mr. Gates is spying on me using Microsoft Spy:

  • “There’s no reason why only poor people have no shoes”, releasing a canister of “shoe-eating smoke” all over the conference room floor. “It’s only CO2 and water…”
  • “There’s no reason why only poor people are starving”, releasing a noxious, vomit-inducing cloud. “Here. Have a coupon for Microsoft brand smoothies”
  • “There’s no reason why only poor people are being attacked by pirates”, releasing a hoard of pirates to pillage the audience. “It’s ok; they are paid, professional actors.”
  • “There’s no reason why only poor people should not have working MP3 players”, releasing a massive EMP pulse. “Free Zunes within the hour!”
  • “There’s no reason why only poor people should spontaneously combust”, alighting the emcee. “It’s ok; he was only a temp.”

Any other suggestions?
